I woke up to the most obnoxious squawking this morning. Think: flocks of crows with voices like that of the parrot from Aladdin. FML. The night was okay, though. I'm beginning to think I should have stolen a plane blanket though. No sheets or blankets at the hotel. I paid for my room and taxi this morning and am YEARNING for Swahili knowledge. Even my English needs translation--I use SO many colloquialisms. I used my water pump, already, this morning to filter the hotel's water. Maybe a little extreme, but I didn't want to be unnecessarily sick on my first day. I pumped two big bottles worth.
My hotel shower was just a tall spicket with no heat. It was a one-minute shower, tops. That's one way to conserve! Now I wait for, Godwilling, my taxi to pick me up and bring me to the airport. It's going to be a mildly precarious day, so we'll just have to see what happens. It's humid!!
1PM
I've found some other girls from my group! This is such a relief.
The country's main mobile phone service, Safaricom, however, is down. This will make meeting my friend Abdul difficult as he has a Safaricom phone. I'm not stressing, we'll let the day take its course. The airport smells of marijuana.
